SolaPlug Installations are MCS compliant & eligible for the RHI
MCS: Microgeneration Certification Scheme.
RHI: Renewable Heat Incentive.
To be MCS compliant all solar thermal installations must:
- Use approved solar collectors (MCS or Solar Keymark)
- Be installed to the standard MIS3001.
SolaPlug Installations comply with MIS3001.
All SolaPlugs are provided with.
- Permanent labels explaining the importance of the timing of backup heating. (These must be stuck on the boiler & solar controllers).
The installer must provide an estimate of performance using SAP.
Use a SAP calculator such as encraft.
www.encraft.co.uk.
Click on "Microgeneration Calculators". Click on "SAP 2009 Solar Thermal Calculator".
Complete the form.
For "arrangement of solar preheating" select "twin coil cylinder".
For "dedicated solar storage volume":
For SolaPlugs in direct cylinders estimate the solar volume as a proportion of the total cylinder volume.
For SolaPlugs in indirect cylinders set the dedicated solar volume to 0.
The SAP calculator will give an annual solar input in KWh.
SAP: Standard Assessment Procedure - Government's system for assessing the energy efficiency of homes.
The Government have confirmed that the Renewable Heat Incentive for Domestic properties will start in October 2012.
Solar thermal installations will be included in the RHI scheme, any MCS compliant solar installation
commissioned after 15th July 2009 will be eligible.
